Farewell to Kenya

Despite the food sickness, cold temperatures, mud, rodentials, excessive cabbage and rain...we are all extremely sad to be leaving. I soon realized I was going to miss the scenery, the people, and most of all, the wildlife. I had almost become attached to them-- I was soon wondering what had happened to the injured lion we had seen back in the Mara, or if any of the juvenile pelicans had managed to make it back out to water.

After this trip it cemented my sentiments on wanting to pursue a career in conservation biology. I feel so fortunate to have participated in this experience and to have found a field that I am so intensely passionate about. It's so exciting learning new facts about ecology related matter, and to see it first hand in Kenya is something I'll never be able to forget! For my closing remarks, here's a picture of me planking a rock in front of a waterfall, and I must say the angle is impeccable:

Thank you to everyone who made it possible, Ryan and Carlo for being such amazing group leaders, all the people who took time out of their schedules to speak with us about pertinent issues involving conservation in Kenya, and of course to my awesome group members who made the trip so memorable!
